The Equity Initiative’s 2021 Equity Agenda for New York City

The Equity Initiative’s initial focus will be the safety, economic, health, educational, and social conditions of New York City’s African-American residents and their families. This focus is necessitated by the urgent need for New York City’s governmental leadership to attend to repairing the ongoing injury and harm to, and destruction of African American communities.

As a priority, New York City’s governmental leadership must set the stage for African Americans to be assured that their continuing achievements in securing their basic needs—their personal, family and safety needs—are not continuously or systematically thwarted.

The Equity Initiative’s agenda is not intended to overlook, or to exclude over time, the civil rights, or the economic and social needs of Americans of indigenous descent, or of any other group of individuals, communities or immigrants that have been subjected to, or made the victim of systemic racism, unequal treatment under the law, or unjust treatment in the United States of America prior to and since its inception.
